Salary: Based on a seven-step salary plan. Pre-tax payroll deductions toward CalPERS contributions are required of all employees.

District's emergency/disaster preparedness programs conform to the Department of Homeland Security National Response Framework, the National Incident Management System (NIMS), and the California Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS). Programs are District-wide and are sustained through multi-year program planning.

The Senior Office Specialist will support direct administrative support to the Emergency Services and Security Unit and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The incumbent will provide support duties which include, but are not limited to: answering phone calls form internal and external staff, greeting visitors, word processing documentation from unit staff, supporting unit staff on programs and projects, assist with EOC setup, assist with testing and maintenance, create tracking reports for a variety of staff and/or projects.

  • Emergency Operation Center readiness

  • Administration/clerical duties

  • Maintenance of personnel contacts

  • FEMA/DSW tracking of training

  • Coordination of events and unit meetings

  • Office records management/coding and file tracking of budget items for unit

Ideal Candidate Criteria


  • At least one year of experience in an EOC in an administrative capacity

  • Business Administration

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, or similar

  • Using and/or operating 2-way radios, any type of emergency management software or regular software used for emergency management purposes

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and procedures of record keeping

  • Notification systems

Ability to:

  • Prioritize, and multi-task to meet deadlines

  • Work collaboratively

  • Communicate effectively (both verbal and written)

  • Provide customer service

Typical Qualifications


Four years of increasingly responsible clerical, secretarial, or administrative support experience.


Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized office or administrative support training.
