Cruise is looking for a Systems Engineer to help lead feature definition and technology development to ensure seamless onboard and offboard vehicle communications, data storage and retrieval, data propagation, and interoperability between applications.
As a Systems Engineer on the Autonomous Vehicle Integrity team at Cruise, you’ll have the chance to work at the intersection of hardware, software and AV technology and have a hand in nearly every component of a technically sophisticated autonomous system.

Systems Engineers collaborate across the company, synthesizing efforts with all stakeholders to ensure that features and functions are developed safely, effectively, and securely. As subject matter experts in their respective domains, Systems Engineers must comprehend the many complex interfaces and interactions required to integrate in-vehicle systems and all related AV technologies.
Drive the requirements definition, analysis, development and documentation of feature technical specifications
Conduct feature scoping assessments, define use cases and performance measurements
Define system interfaces between key components
Ensure systems and communication protocols are specified securely
Translate system requirements and implementation architecture into testable product requirements and design specifications
Conduct and participate in feature and system DFMEAs
Manage traceability between hardware and software systems and their test evidence
Analyze validation test evidence to challenge assumptions and harden requirement rationales
Lead technical discussions, build and manage relationships with cross-functional teams and relevant internal and external stakeholders
5+ years experience in systems engineering or similar role for safety-critical components
Working knowledge in one or more of: data engineering, scalable data pipelines, cloud platform (AWS) and infrastructure, big data and analytics, Apache Spark
Working knowledge of telematics, and distributed systems architecture using telematics as the preferred method of communication
Working knowledge of data logging for distributed, safety-critical, real-time systems
Experience taking requirements from R&D and design to shipping and large scale production
Familiarity with Requirements Management tools such as DOORS, JAMA, Rhapsody, etc.
Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences
Experience with FMEAs,, fault tree and hazard analysis
Solid presentation, writing and documentation skills
Ability to identify and act on opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency
BS degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM field
An understanding of IP networking, network design methodologies & troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS)
Experience with robotics or autonomous vehicles
Experience with machine learned applications
Experience working in a regulated environment
Skilled in cross functional team communication; scrum and agile techniques
Solve difficult problems that have immediate and valuable real-world applications
