We’re searching for a Senior Manager of Media Services Bus Dev to join the Services & New Business (SNB) division at Samsung Electronics America. This position will be based in Mountain View, California.
SNB is an agile “start-up” team with highly talented and results oriented individuals, organized directly under the CEO. We take an interdisciplinary approach to transform the way devices are combined with software and services increasing consumer engagement and creating new revenue opportunities to accelerate company growth. We are responsible for strategy, product marketing, and business operations for services including Intelligence (Bixby), IOT, Samsung Pay and Samsung Health. We also incubate and operate growth platforms, including award-winning industry-firsts such as Samsung Rewards.
The Services & New Business division is looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager, Media Services Bus Dev to lead execution of strategic and partnership business opportunities that drive revenue and growth for Samsung Services and Samsung platforms like Samsung Rewards. Samsung Rewards’ vision is to be the unified and consistent loyalty and retention platform for the Samsung Ecosystem across services and products. The SNB team implements “never been done before” strategic projects working with internal business units, customers, and Samsung partners. Located in Silicon Valley, New Jersey, and Dallas, the team provides a productivity frontier for diversely talented individuals to champion change that positively impacts the organization. The Senior Manager, Partnerships will lead partnerships strategy and execution from value proposition to launch, including performance management to meet management expectations. He or she will also be responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships at all levels internally and externally with strategic partners.
You will report to the Senior Director, Growth Operations and will work closely with Product Managers, Rewards Platform Leads, and On-Platform Engagement Leads to build partnership strategies, create strategic programs, socialize business opportunities externally and internally, and help drive partnership contract negotiations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, though other duties may be assigned. In this position, either directly or through others, the incumbent will:
Develop a pipeline of partners (leading incumbent brands and disruptive early stage companies) to deliver strategic business opportunities that drive revenue and Services growth.
Build strategy and business cases (including financials) for making go/no-go decisions on new strategic initiatives that deliver ROI that impacts Samsung.
Establish and cultivate relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and lead end-to-end business planning and execution for relevant projects.
Present and make new business and/or process recommendations to the company's senior leadership, and champion implementation to achieve desired results.
Monitor industry and market trends continuously evaluating new business and/or technology partnership opportunities for Samsung.
Serve as an industry subject matter expert and deliver insights in media and loyalty areas
Continuously provide monthly/weekly/ad-hoc services partnerships performance reports, present growth recommendations, and champion implementation as need to exceed services growth goals.
Strong interpersonal and partner relationship skills. Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships at both executive and working levels within and outside the company.
Possess a deep knowledge of relevant technologies and the competitive dynamics of the telecommunications, mobile device, and consumer electronics industry landscape.
Maintain strict confidentiality of all information learned, shared, used or stored in the Legal Department.
Analytical problem solving and strategic thinking skills; Quantitative analysis skills to guide data-driven decision making
Ability to listen well, think strategically and creatively to solve problems and generate action through persuasion
Excellent written communication skills; highly proficient at PowerPoint presentation creation & generating strong customer / partner collateral
Well-developed oral presentation skills; comfort presenting to senior executives on a regular basis
‘Entrepreneurial’ mindset, ‘can do’ results-oriented approach, bias for action and the ability to overcome obstacles, ambiguity, and continuous change.
Necessary Skills / Attributes
MBA degree from a top business school with distinguished academic record preferred. Technical, computer science or engineering degrees preferred.
12+ years of relevant work experience from an internet, professional services, media and/or software companies. 2+ years of early stage or start-up experience is preferred.
A proven leader with the ability to inspire greatness in others, develop and lead new business initiatives working with leading brands.
Must have prior experience in business development role that requires lead development, management and negotiation. Experience in media services or sales a significant plus.
Proven success executing complex strategic and operational initiatives that have achieved tangible industry impact.
Previous success using insights to drive growth working with engineering, product and marketing teams.
Willingness to travel up to 40%, within North America and to South Korea
